St
Brigid's is a
Catholic Primary School serving families of
the Nerang Catholic Parish.
St Brigid's offers a quality education within
the context of Catholic values and traditions.
The school aims to be a true community of
learning and faith - one which recognizes the
uniqueness and dignity of the individual and
operates on the gospel values of respect and
care for one another.
|
Through its
curriculum and courses, its celebration and
worship rituals, its cultivation of the
aesthetics and its Religious Education
program, the school attempts to give witness
to the essential wholeness of the human
experience - social, moral, physical,
spiritual and intellectual development.
|
SCHOOL
DEVELOPMENT:
St Brigid's School was opened in 1994 with a
Pre-school, six classrooms and an
administration block, catering for an initial
enrolment of 128 students from Pre-school to
Year 4.
|
A second building stage was completed in 1996,
extending the school's size by four more
classrooms and by the end of 1998, our new
library, covered area and tuckshop completed
at the end of last year, extend the school to
"two stream" capacity. |
SOCIAL/MORAL
DEVELOPMENT:
We accept that we live in an era in which
community standards have been reduced and our
teenagers and young adults are going to be
exposed to social pressures and choices which
did not exist in other times.
|
At
St Brigid's we shall provide an eight year
program, from Pre-school to Year Seven which
is designed to equip our young people to
confront social issues in the light of Gospel
teachings. |
SPIRITUAL
DEVELOPMENT:
Faith development is considered an essential
component for education of the whole person.
The school's formal Religious Education
program is based on the Archdiocesan
Education in Faith Guidlines.
|
Students
participate regularly in liturgies,
celebrations, prayer times and assemblies
which help develop the community of faith. |
PHYSICAL
EDUCATION:
Current and future developments at St Brigid's
take into account the physical development
needs of students. An emphasis on skills
development in the early years culminating in
interaction with other schools are features
of our physical education programs.
|
The school
has an on-site swimming pool and large
grounds to allow expansive play and sports
opportunities. |
INTELLECTUAL
DEVELOPMENT:
St Brigid's has adopted Education Queensland's
Curriculum for Primary Schools and Brisbane
Catholic Education's Documents as the basis
for all courses.
|
There is a
genuine need to meet the needs of all
learners by providing a variety of learning
opportunities and teaching strategies. There
is an emphasis on the developmental skills
and needs of individuals. |
